Analog Devices offers a broad portfolio of ADCs with a wide range of performances in resolution, sampling rate, INL and DNL, and offset error. The MAX1301 is one of many SAR ADCs and chosen for its wide application appeal. The MAX1301 is a four channel, 16-Bit, 115 ksps, +5V SAR ADC. The stand out feature is the programmability of each of the inputs. This enables designers to configure each channel to one of four single-ended or two differential input ranges. Also, the MAX1301 has ±16.5V overvoltage tolerant inputs, making it ideal for ±15V inputs. The headroom provided is protected by internal diodes and are active whether the device is unpowered or powered. A designer has the option to use the internal voltage reference to save space or use an external reference for applications that require highest accuracy. 115 ksps sampling rate is fast enough for many different industrial applications. INL is ±1 LSB typical and ±2 LSB maximum. For customers’ benefit, the MAX1301 is used in a four channel analog input reference design named the MAXREFDES5#. This reference design can be purchased to evaluate the performance of the analog front end and provides all the necessary design circuit files, layout Gerber files, characterization data, and supporting documents, making it easy for customer’s to replicate it in ones own system. For a self contained easy AFE evaluation system, the MAXSANTAFEEVSYS# can be ordered.
