1-Wire Communications Slide 2

Analog Devices' Products 1-Wire communication protocol is a simple signaling protocol that combines data and power into a single signal and ground return. A typical 1-Wire network consists of a single Master device connected to one or more Slaves via the 1-Wire bus. The protocol is bi-directional and half duplex in nature, with data transmission being bit sequential, with the LSB being transmitted first. The protocol supports speeds of 15.4kbps in standard mode and 125kbps in overdrive mode. This figure shows a typical 1-Wire network where a single bus Master (microcontroller) is communicating with a multi-drop configuration of 1-Wire Slave devices via a protocol conversion device. Analog Devices' 1-Wire products are optimal for adding memory and mixed signal functionality to designs where interconnect must be minimized.
