After the heat load and desired ΔT are known, the input current and voltage required by the TEM can be obtained by utilizing a thermal curve. II-VI Coherent Thermal Solutions organizes thermal curves by hot side temperature. The curves indicate the ΔTmax is at a heat load of 0. Similarly, the heat pumping capability is maximized as ΔT is reduced. In the example shown here, the total heat load has been calculated to be 1W and a desired ΔT from the hot side of the ceramic to the cold side ceramic is 40°C. This corresponds to the blue point on the upper curve.
