This presentation has discussed some of the important requirements of IEC60601-1-8 as applied to the alarm sounds, but as mentioned earlier, this standard has more than 150 pages, so there are many other items discussed that are not covered here. These include voice options, playing melodies, and other technical alarm conditions.  Also, the use of visual alarms is covered in the standard.
