The device’s low noise of 25µVRMS across a wide bandwidth of 10Hz to 100kHz suits it for low-noise system rails. With its UltraFast™ line and load transient response, the LT3070 can respond to load current changes with rise/fall times of 1A over 200nS is better than competing devices with rise/fall times of 1A per 1µS (5x slower), and lowers the output capacitor requirements thus saving cost. The ±1% accuracy over line, load and temperature is ideal for tightly regulated power rails. The high-frequency PSRR of 55dB @ 200kHz, 30dB @ 2MHz makes it great for post-regulating switching regulators. The stability with low ESR ceramic capacitors (15µF minimum) feature saves bulk capacitor cost and space. In addition, current limit with power foldback, plus thermal shutdown with hysteresis protection provides robust performance in harsh environments. Available in a compact 4mm x 5mm x 0.75mm QFN 28-lead package, it is a thermally efficient surface mount, leadless package.
