This slide explains what is inside the IRAM module. IRAM modules use IGBTs with short circuit rating. An RC filter is added to prevent false trigger. In addition, B-version IRAMs have an integrated shunt which can provide current feedback to microcontroller. The IRAM modules also have fault and enable pins with automatic reset.
