Power-Factor-Slide3

For simple electrical loads like incandescent lamps and electric heaters, the load behavior is basically resistive in nature, with the load current having a fairly linear relationship to the incoming line voltage. In this case, the input voltage and load current waveforms will appear nearly identical, and this represents the ideal situation for the utility system, as the power factor of the load is unity.
