Now, ensure the Arduino is being recognized and detected by the system. With the Arduino connected, go to the device manager and locate the “Ports (COM and LPT)”. The Arduino Uno should be clearly identified. Make note of which COM port is identified. In the example shown, “COM8” is selected. This location will vary depending on which USB location is used on the device. If the device is not listed as “Arduino Uno”, the device has not been properly detected. The designer will need to right-click the device and select “Update Driver/Install Driver”. The designer will then select “Browse My Computer” and select the folder where the application was installed and the beginning of the setup process was downloaded. Once the application is selected, click “Next” to install the driver.
