For use with boards comprised predominantly of surface mounted components, HARTING offers DIN 41 612 connectors which are through-hole terminated but still fully surface mount compatible (SMC). With a maximum temperature allowance of +240°C for 15 seconds, these connectors can be safely reflow soldered. This avoids the need for separate soldering of SMT and SMC components on the same board. To address the demands of the rail transportation industry, HARTING offers DIN 41 612 connectors with special plastic materials. Approved to railway NFF (F1 and F2), these connectors meet stringent smoke and fire requirements in the event of an accident. As these are variants of DIN 41 612 connectors for which only the plastic material changes, customers can easily switch to the NFF versions without additional rework of their boards.
