The DIN Signal product range divides into two broad groups. This presentation addresses conventional two and three row DIN Signal connectors which are offered in a wide range of configurations with two or three rows of contacts. Rated at up 2A per contact, the range also includes a mixed configuration style (type M) which incorporates other contact types, including high current up to 40A. Originally offered as female connectors on the backplane and male on the daughter card, the introduction of inverse (or reverse) configurations allows either gender in either application. The inclusion of inverse types takes DIN 41 612 beyond the limitations of backplane/daughter card configurations. For example, inverse connectors and standard types can be used in mezzanine applications by using a straight male and female connector. Different performance levels defined by IEC 60 603-2 and IEC 61 076-104-113 guarantee the number of mating cycles for the specific application.
