Power switches are generally large robust devices intended to directly control line voltages, 110-220 VAC. As the name implies, they have substantial contacts, which allows them to act as the control switch for higher-power applications. This is usually the main front panel power switch for the device. Mechanical latching is also normal, along with indicator light options. Rocker-type or pushbutton actuators are the most common, and since these are intended to control line voltage, agency safety certifications are necessary. Low life cycle ratings of 6,000 to 10,000 are typical.
