Wave soldering is the preferred method for thru-hole components if there is substantial volume. Typical solder temperature is 500°F or 260°C with a solder dwell time of 3 to 5 seconds. Typical preheat temperature is 266°F or 130°C, and a post process wash is required. This requires the use of a process sealed switch, to minimize the possibility of contact contamination due to the wash.
