Plastics have many advantages as a material for a NEMA enclosure. Among these are that they are lightweight, easy to carry, corrosion resistant, low average selling price, can be transparent to allow for easy viewing of components, and can be readily wall mounted. The significant disadvantage is that if you cannot find a standard product to meet your needs, tooling can be expensive. Furthermore, if the requirement is for a large enclosure, it may be cost prohibitive to create such a unit out of plastic. Generally, this is an ideal box for most applications.
