Contrary to the conventional wire wound over the ferrite core inductor, the SRP series inductor is first wound as an air coil and then pressure molded all around with a magnetic metal alloy powder and bonding agent mixture that are preformulated to specification. The resulting inductor is a highly compact and dimensionally-precise component. The SRP, SRP-A, SRP-C, SRP-TA, and SRP-AA series are wound with round enamel-coated copper wire. The terminal is either self-lead or lead frame, depending on the wire size. Self-lead construction can achieve lower DC resistance without the contact resistance of the lead frame design. The SRP-CA and SRP-FA series are built with flat enamel-coated copper wire with self-lead terminal that possesses the lowest DC resistance among the SRP series inductors.
