The same technology which was described for animal tagging is also used for waste management (tagging waste bins). The generic term "access control" encompasses much more than just getting access to buildings or offices. It is also used, for example, for activating or deactivating alarm systems, opening garage doors or parking lot barriers. Basic security starts with just having a simple ID in the tag and can reach up to sophisticated authentication procedures. In this application, the unique ID of Microchip's high-runner chip ATA5577 is an important criteria. Unique ID means a worldwide unique and traceable Microchip chip number. There is no other Microchip chip with the same ID in the world. This presents a relatively high security level at a reasonable price.
