JEDEC has established standards for temperature sensors used on memory modules. The Microchip AT30TS00 temperature sensor is compliant to this standard, and therefore drop-in compatible with several existing temperature sensors in the market. Many DIMM memory modules today also require EEPROM to implement the Serial Presence Detect function. By integrating the EEPROM with the temperature sensor, the AT30TSE002B reduces the BOM cost, simplifies the design and enhances manufacturability. In addition, these two devices are also ideal for applications that can benefit from a hysteresis loop characteristic or triple alarms.
