The Microchip AVR® XMEGA® with USB is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 standard. Its implementation is limited to the device controller; however, it supports both Low Speed USB with data rates up to 1.5 Mb/s and Full Speed USB with a maximum data rate of 12 Mb/s. Additionally, the entire SRAM is available for the developer, providing full flexibility when developing applications. The USB controller supports communication with up to 31 devices or endpoints—the maximum allowed by the USB specification. All of the endpoints are configurable by software, allowing the application to set the maximum packet size and direction of the communication—either in or out—and choose the transfer mode. All transfer modes specified by the USB 2.0 standard—Control, Interrupt, Bulk or Isochronous—are also available.
