ASSMANN WSW components currently offers four different cord types. SJT, the most popular due to its durable construction and availability with heavier wire gauges, is a junior service cord rated at 300 V. It is available in 14, 16, and 18 AWG. SVT rated cords typically have a smaller cord diameter which provides greater flexibility. Originally used for vacuum cleaners, it has many other applications today and is only available in 18 AWG. SPT-1 and SPT-2 are meant for household appliances and other light duty applications. These are also known as lamp cord because of their widely accepted usage in this application. Both SPT-1 and SPT-2 are constructed with two conductors but SPT-2 has a heavier, more durable construction. All of the cord types have a “T” in their nomenclature which indicates that the cord jacket or outer jacket is constructed of thermoplastic – (PVC).
