Mobile networks are requiring RF signal transmission to be implemented with tighter space constraints and less passive intermodulation interferences. Typically 4.3/10 and 7/16 connectors were the market standard for these applications. The 4.3/10 series is approximately the size of an N-type connector and the 2.2-5 is about the size of a TNC connector, which is 53% smaller than the 4.3/10 and 70% smaller than the 7/16 connector. Despite the reduction in size and weight, the 2.2-5 series possesses comparable electrical and thermo-climatic properties to the 4.3/10 series, and ultimately only differs from it in terms of size. The requirements for small cells and 5G miniaturization make the 2.2-5 connector an ideal replacement choice.
