This slide shows how to calculate the SDRAM density. Each SDRAM device has an address, bank select and data output signals. SDRAM density can be calculated based on these signals as shown in the equation, using row address x column address x number of banks x number of I/Os. In the 512Mb example, there are 13 row addresses which is 8,192 bits (first value); 10 column addresses which is 1,024 bits (second value); and 2 bank select pins - which is 4 banks (third value) and 16 I/Os (fourth value). Multiply these 4 values and the result is 512Mb.
