VI Chip BCM™ modules accept a nominal 48 V , 270 V, 350 V or 384 V input and convert it to standard intermediate bus voltages of nominal 2 to 48 V (range), 11 V, 12 V, 44 V and 48 V. These modules, which are significantly smaller in size than standard bus converters, provide not only switching at fixed high frequency, but also efficiency up to 96% and power densities that are greater than 1000 W per cubic inch. Output power is 120 W for the half-chip modules, and up to 325 W for the full-chip module. All Vicor BCMs are capable of 150% peak transient power. VI Chip BCMs offer safety isolation from input to output of 4,242 V for high voltage units and 2,250 V for 48 V units and are used as stand alone bus converters for downstream point-of-load converters or input capacitor multipliers.
