In summary, VI Chip BCM™ modules, available in both commercial and MIL-COTS models, are fixed ratio, isolated DC Sine Amplitude Converters developed from a transformer-based, series resonant topology. The Sine Amplitude Converter™ high performance power conversion powertrain is fast, flexible and efficient. The sinusoidal current flow within the converter enables the converter to operate at several MHz. The silicon switch transitions occur at zero voltage and zero current and the sine amplitude converter always operates at the resonant frequency. Filter design is easy and can be sized for a switching frequency >1 MHz. Other advantages of the BCM modules is the capability to design “eco-mode” BCM arrays to improve light load efficiency, the modules can be paralleled for high power arrays and modularity allows for sequencing as required.
