Surface Mount Coupled Inductors Slide 6

A single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) topology is shown in the circuit on this slide. This circuit design is typically used to boost the voltage with a boost controller. Using a 1:1 dual winding inductor in this circuit divides the inductor ripple current equally between the windings with one half going through each winding. If two separate inductors were used, the inductance would need to be twice the value.
