The HM78D uses a unique ferrite core material that allows the inductor to operate at a higher flux density level and handle high currents without saturating. This slide shows the benchmark comparison data of the 10 µH inductor, part number HM78D-1210100MLF vs. a competitor’s design. The BI unit is stable to 12 A while the competitor’s unit is stable to approximately 10 A. This is a 20% improvement in performance.
