Another example of calculating a metric is shown here for a cable buffer using the DS25BR100. This calculation uses the power consumed while transferring error-free data over the maximum length cable specified. The number of channels is divided out to provide a rating that is normalized to a single channel. The result for the DS25BR100 was 37 pJ per bit transferred error-free where the nearest competitor is at 71 pJ per bit.
