Power Management for Energy Harvesting Slide 18

Which regions are impacted the most by which specifications can be seen on this plot. At the left of the inflection point, the active current dominates and at the right, sleep current dominates. For most systems, if the application can tolerate it, it will operate close to this inflection point to optimize power consumption. So to approach a perpetually powered micro system, a very low duty cycle is needed and the sleep current of the system needs to be minimized. As mentioned before, keep in mind that the power management and energy harvesting interface will most likely be active during the sleep mode, so the quiescent current of the power management system becomes critical.
