This slide demonstrates the numbers used in the last example with a varying duty cycle. The activity interval, or how often the MCU wakes up and performs a function, is plotted on the X-axis. Close to the knee of the curve, the half of a percent duty cycle point is indicated. This shows why most systems employing these specifications operate at this point. Further reduction of the duty cycle has diminished impact on the overall current consumption. However, increasing the duty cycle from here leads to a nonlinear increase in current consumption.
