BeagleBoard-xM Slide 5

This page highlights some of the performance and expansion options available on the BeagleBoard-xM. Some of the key individual features include: a Cortex™-A8 architecture with more than 2000 Dhrystone MIPS for laptop like performance, a powerful graphics engine, and DSP for HD video. This system provides for many ways to expand including provisions for developers to wire-wrap their sensors to the board, monitor support for DVI and S-Video, SDMMC for memory cards, SD WiFi, and SDIO capabilities. Also, the USB interfaces can act as a host and a client enabling developers to connect to a computer or a hub with other peripherals connected to it. Additionally, low cost tools for debugging and emulation can still be used. The BeagleBoard-xM enables developers to have a system with all the available performance from the DM3730 processor that is small, portable, and does not require lugging around a large power supply. The board does not require a fan or heat sink, is completely silent, is perfect for media center applications, has onboard memory with low power DDR, and only requires USB power. Finally, the BeagleBoard-xM enables native development capabilities and smooth execution of desktop office applications like OpenOffice.org and Firefox and allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously on a fully loaded open platform.
