The BeagleBoard-xM is roughly the size of a 3x3 post-it note and delivers laptop like performance with handheld power levels, and an ARM® processor – the superscalar Cortex™-A8 with over 2000 DSM, OpenGL graphics engine, DSP core for HD video, and other signal processing. With this system, developers do not need to worry about processing performance, having limited memory, or battery capabilities. The BeagleBoard-xM, with a 2000 Dhyrstone MIPS processing speed, runs the full Linux operating system with desktop windows managers and office applications. Also, it is USB powered with on-board Ethernet and five USB 2.0 ports that support low, full, and high speeds which allows the system to be taken anywhere and power applications through anything with a USB port. The onboard USB ports can be used for peripherals like a keyboard, a mouse, WiFi, Bluetooth, web cameras or additional USB hubs. Additionally, through the active and growing open source community developers can find peers with common interests and goals and work on projects together, fuel innovation, and spur development on OMAP35x based applications.
