C2000 Evolution Slide 11

On this slide the block diagram of the original F240 is compared with that of the Piccolo F28069. Clearly the newer part is much more complex and feature rich, however both devices comprise the three key features of a digital control processor: an integrated A/D converter, a high performance DSP core, and a PWM generator. The principal differences lie in three areas: in the complexity and flexibility of these peripherals on the newer device; in the performance of the CPU core; and in the integration of system level functions such as fault detection, oscillators, and analogue comparators. Future development trends of the C28x will lead to further improvements in all three of these areas.
