TE Connectivity’s Circular Plastic Connectors are a rugged and versatile product family with a wide range of housing and contact options to serve a wide spectrum of needs. One of the biggest benefits of TE’s CPC portfolio is simply the breadth of products which are available. CPCs are circular in shape which allows for more available positions when compared to connectors that are rectangular in shape and have the same area. The housing is made of a heat resistant, self-extinguishing thermoplastic which makes it extremely rugged, allowing them to withstand abuse as well as providing built-in pin and socket protection. For added retention, the connectors are threaded with a coupling ring with a positive locking feature. All CPCs are designed to be easily repaired in the event of any damage to the housing or pins, with replacement parts readily available. CPC are available in either standard sex, having pins in the receptacle and sockets in the plug, or reverse sex, having sockets in the receptacle and pins in the plug. The sockets should always be on the powered or live half of the mating pair to avoid electrocution. CPCs also come in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate different amounts of contacts. To differentiate the housing size and available contact position, a numbering system consisting of two numbers is used. The first number refers to the shell diameter and is based on military nomenclature referenced to approximately 1/16th inch increments. The second number represents the total number of contact positions available.
