Shown here is the PowerSpin family portrait for the dual H bridge products and the three-phase bridge products. From the L6205 up to the L6208, the number of embedded features increases. For DC and stepper motor drivers, there are four pairs of part numbers. Each pair has the same features with the exception of the current rating. There are two classes of current rating, the higher is 5.6 A peak current and the lower is 2.8 A peak current, all the other features inside each pair are the same. ST recently introduced PowerSPIN parts in QFN package, which saves 85% of the space of the SO24 package and thermal performances are 30% better. These two key benefits, together with a competitive cost, makes the QFN, 5 mm x 5 mm, package the ideal solution for motor control applications. The QFN package is the best solution in all motor applications where space is limited on the PCB and where thermal performance is important.
