These mechanical dial gauges have a tendency to wear out prematurely from the stress of the movement, are messy when they leak the fluid used to dampen needle movement, and have an accuracy that is dependent on the operator. In addition, parallax error is common with analog gauges - the operator’s eye alignment with the needle during the reading can introduce more inaccuracies.
