In summary, wearable and other applications requiring low power can benefit tremendously from reducing the voltage swing between VOH and VOL. In the examples shown in the module, power consumption can be reduced by as much as 40%. SiTime has tested MCUs from various vendors and determined they can work with reduced swing voltages offered by SiTime, thereby making it easier for the engineering community to design in the NanoDrive feature. As NanoDrive™ works with multiple MCUs either when the on-chip oscillator is enabled or disabled, the correct NanoDrive™ configuration can be identified by asking three simple questions; the first whether the internal oscillator in the MCU is enabled or disabled, the second whether outputs require AC levels or are DC coupled and finally the desired voltage swing to achieve the maximum power savings.
