The circuit on the previous slide is captured in an Si890x AC line monitoring reference design. The reference design is made up of an evaluation board that is normally contained in an enclosure for safety. One side has screw terminals for connecting the high voltage mains line. The other side has a plug-in terminal block for interfacing with the output signals. At start-up, an onboard microcontroller initiates and manages the conversions. The microcontroller reconstitutes the current and voltage digital signals into analog waveforms for analysis with an oscilloscope. The evaluation board can also be configured to output raw digital signals directly from the converters. All three interface options are available on the evaluation board. Which device is being utilized, the Si8900, Si8901 or Si8902, is jumper selectable.
