The latest addition to Silicon Labs’ smart interface family, the CP2130, extends their USB bridge portfolio to include a USB-to-SPI bridge. This highly configurable device can communicate with a wide range of devices down to 1.8V, including up to 11 SPI slave devices. The CP2130 also has integrated special functions on all GPIO pins that can eliminate the need for external components. With all of their bridge devices, Silicon Labs' goal is to make USB connectivity easy. There is no USB software or firmware development required. Developers can drop in the bridge and begin communicating over USB. In addition, the CP2130 uses the free WinUSB/LibUSB driver suites. Common to all the CP21xx devices are a crystal-less operation, an integrated voltage regulator, in-system programming memory and small 4mm x 4mm packages that in combination reduce cost, simplify design and shorten development time.
