The Si512xx family of tiny footprint, factory-programmable clock generators provides lower power consumption and lower jitter than its predecessor, with smaller footprint packages and a more effective cost structure, all without trading off performance or programmability. The low power consumption of these products, as well as their tiny size, makes them ideal for handheld battery powered applications. These products consume 50-60% less power than competing clock solutions. In addition, the availability of spread spectrum generation allows EMI reduction for further benefits to the customer. These devices can also be used as stand alone EMI reduction devices on critical clock signals. The Si512xx timing devices allow four levels of programmable drive strength for each output independently. This enables board designers to customize each output according to load and trace length to achieve better signal integrity and lower EMI. The devices also support multi-rate clock output. This allows the designer to generate two selectable frequencies from one output, using the frequency select (FSEL) pin to switch between the two frequencies. This is important when the system needs to support different frequencies for audio/video CODEC, CCD sensors etc. Customers provide input on the desired frequencies, and the devices are generally received at one's door in less than two weeks.
