PMLCAPs are formed using an Acrylic polymer dielectric and metalized Aluminum internal electrode comprising of 4 to 10 thousand stacked layers. Because PMLCAPs are manufactured in a vacuum metallization method, the dielectric film is very thin about 0.5 µm thick resulting in a significantly small volume. Roughly 1/10 the size of a conventional film capacitor made from a winding method. The acrylic polymer is formed using a high-heat resistant material and thus withstands Lead-free reflow soldering process with peak temperature of 260°C. This is something that was never achieved using conventional film capacitors.
