At low switching frequencies such as 1 kHz or 4 kHz, switching loss is usually not very large but at higher switching frequencies, switching losses are much higher. Due to lower switching losses at higher frequencies, SiC modules are ideally suited to replace higher current rating IGBT modules. They can drive much larger current at higher frequencies and at the same time incur very low switching losses.
