As presented in the previous slides, ROHM’s solution is a 4-channel output linear driver with a dedicated PBUS function for one-out/all-out requirements without any need for an external circuit. Shown here is an example of how ROHM can save the board space and total BOM cost. Consider using 32 LEDs in a rear lamp unit that has right, center, and left units. With the BD18347/337 solution, only 8 pieces of driver would be required to handle 32 LEDs; however, other solutions available in the market would need a total of 14 pieces of driver ICs due to less available channels per IC. Also, ROHM’s solution attains the one-out/all-out function by just connecting the PBUS pin without the need of external circuitry.
