EMI Overview Slide 5

There are two types of EMI interference. The first type is called Common Mode Noise. Common mode noise is the noise between the line and neutral referenced to the ground. The common mode noise current flows in the same direction on both power conductors and then returns via the ground conductor. Most noise problems that occur are caused by common mode noise.
