This non-isolated LED driver design uses a tapped-inductor buck topology which allows an EE10 core inductor to be used for a 4.2 W design. The 700 V MOSFET also eliminates the need for a clamp network on the primary side which minimizes the number of discrete components. This solution is ideal for integrated lamp applications with space constraints. This tapped-inductor buck configuration has high efficiency of > 80% in the 4.2 W design.
