QFP and PLCC clips are used to break out the leads on large-scale or VLSI integrated circuits like microprocessors, DSPs, and gate arrays. They support pin counts up to 304 pins and lead pitches in the 0.5 to 0.8 mm range. SOIC clips are used to connect surface-mount, small-scale, or medium-scale integrated circuits with pin counts up to 44 pins and lead pitches of 1.27 mm.
