Electronics engineers and technicians need to take measurements or deliver signals to the legs of integrated circuits, or ICs, that are sometimes difficult to get at. Test clips and adapters serve as breakouts, providing access to pins in the older “in-line” packages as well as the new “flat packs.” Test clips are often used to connect logic analyzers, emulators, or oscilloscopes. Different test clips are needed for each IC package style and pin count, so most labs have a collection of them.
