Birtcher Lok Tainers are designed for moderate shock and vibration environments. Like the Birtcher PCB Tainers, these Lok Tainers also feature zero entry force and are screw or rivet mounted to the chassis. There are several different models, but they function in the same way with a cam and lob design that will support a range of PCB thicknesses. The Birtcher 24 and 127’s are designed for sheet metal applications. The Birtcher 24 features lever actuation, so no tools are needed to engage or disengage the Tainer, whereas the 127 is screw actuated. Finally the Birtcher 25, 28, and 29 models are designed for cold wall applications. The 25 features lever actuation. The 28 and 29 are both screw actuated, while the 28 is designed for chassis mount and the 29 for board mount. Lok tainers have been frequently used in both commercial aerospace and rail transportation applications. Within commercial aerospace, these products can be found in the main flight computers, fuel systems, landing gear, radar, and inflight entertainment systems. Within rail transport, these products can be found in the control and monitoring systems, as well as data acquisition and communications management.
