OptConnect ema™ is a fully end device certified LTE Cat 4 Smart Embedded Modem™. The ”smarts” of ema are stored on its onboard microcontroller. Now patent pending, ema has onboard intelligence, firmware and software that enables it to act independently from board driven software. For example, ema has the ability to switch between AT&T and Verizon with its dual SIM cards. This enables a more robust connection ensuring the device is always online. ema comes with already completed low-level development that companies would otherwise have to develop using a module or existing end device certified modem. This further demonstrates how ema shortens customer’s time to market and ongoing development and management. While completely independent from the customer traffic, ema has a completely separate management path through a dual APN. Just like other OptConnect products, ema reports its connectivity status into Summit for management and visibility.
