Shown on this slide is the LV8731V in an ATM application. With low power, safety, and easy PCB layout as the design goals, the LV8731V is a good part to choose. For low power, the DMOS process enables it to use less than 1 µA of current during standby and the low RON of the FET dissipates less power than a power transistor could achieve. Safety functions such as thermal shut down, over-current protection, and under-voltage lock out are incorporated in this device. To facilitate an easy PCB layout for the designer, the same package and pin outs are used for different current rated parts, enabling the designer to put a higher or lower power driver in the same socket as motor requirements change.
