This circuit takes the NCP3063 from onsemi and provides a circuit that can handle a higher input voltage range, 9 to 36V, and a high output current of 1.0A at 12V. It uses either two external BJTs or MOSFETs. The low Vce(sat)  BJTs provide a 2% improvement of efficiency compared to a similar MOSFET solution.
