This slide shows a POS application of an RFID Tag Reader featuring the MCF52213.  This application takes advantage of the flexibility of the USB host and USB device functionality offered by the USB OTG module, making it possible to read information directly from the RFID sensor before returning to the database. The design also uses the 8KB of SRAM which houses the USB software stack. The GPIO in the device can be used to drive a small LCD display. The MCF52213 benefits are the 46 MIPS at 50MHz performance and the Flexible USB connectivity. This device is also power efficient which makes it ideal for those applications where minimum power consumption is required.
