The new RS08 core is very similar to the S08 core products with regard to Flash, RAM, and peripherals. This compatibility with the RS08 core can be utilized in NXP’s new 32-bit V1 core which is a seamless transition from the RS08KA to S08 to the 32-bit V1 core products. The KA also utilizes a background debug controller (BDC) that is compatible with the S08 background debug module. The BDC is an on-chip, single wire debug interface that allows for non-intrusive access to memory resources even while running code. This core is accumulator based with a 14-bit program counter built and is able to generate efficient, compact code.
